CONNECTED PERSONS/KINSHIP ASSESSMENTS
What do connected persons assessments include?
All of our Connected Persons Assessments pay particular attention to:

The nature of the child’s and the kinship carers’ continued relationship and attachment with the birth parent(s) and how this may affect the order;

Any potential risks of harm to the child and carer arising from this arrangement
-
Arrangements regarding contact between the child and the birth parents
-
Criminal records checks are carried out on carer and anyone 16 years, and over, who resides in the home
-
Medical check with a letter/Certificate of Medical Fitness

A synopsis of risk and protective factors

A genogram
-
A financial overview
-
An assessment of support and supervision needs

Assessment process
-
First home visit within 7 days of receiving all referral documents
-
Assessment schedule agreed between social worker and the carer(s)
-
An assessment plan is submitted to the instructing party
-
Social worker will meet with carers, together and separately, child/ren, school and other professionals, as relevant
Timescales
-
All connected persons assessments are completed within 10 -12 weeks
-
Accelerated assessments can be completed within 8 weeks for an additional fee
